Bringing a little Glee into our lives

The remaking of the coolest songs, pretty people, and just a pinch of the bitchy, weird and lovely - what do you get?

...A hit U.S TV show! Glee introduced itself to the British television audience last night, and after two episodes has me completely hooked.

The show focuses on the trials and tribulations of the 'Glee Club' in McInley High School, a club which can only be described as Hairspray for after curriculars, as it attempts to re create itself in order to prevail its former glory and compete nationally with other schools.

The show doesn't miss a beat, and illustrates the reality of life perhaps a little more than American tv shows have done in the past.

The uniting of underdogs, the insecurity of years spent as a teenager, are such universal themes, as well as, current issues such as sex and bulima. But what makes it so different is the way the story is told and the way the show represents itself.

The show is comical, at the same time as giving the air that it is not trying to be funny - this quirky quality will keep the audiences coming - as if the kicking tunes and perfect notes sung by beautiful actors were not enough.

It is clever enough to entice the superficial in us, but has the substance to keep the show going - already nominated for 4 Golden Globes, this show sure enough is an instant hit.

Check it out on E4, Monday nights at 9pm.
